Group Trip and Meal Planner (including PackSmarter) — grouptripplanner.com
Effective Date: July 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Seamus Mountain Ventures, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you use Group Trip and Meal Planner and PackSmarter (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. The Service is currently in Beta and provided free of charge; see our Terms of Service for more.
1. Information We Collect
1a. Information You Provide
- Account information: your name, email address, and (if you use email sign-in) a password. If you use Google sign-in, we receive your name, email, and profile image from Google.
- Profile information: dietary restrictions, allergies, food preferences, and other profile fields you choose to fill in.
- Trip content: trips, meal plans, grocery and pantry items, packing and gear lists, expenses, duties, to-dos, notes, comments, itineraries, lodging, and similar planning content you or your co-planners add.
- People you add to a trip: names and (optional) dietary information for guests, children, or other party members you enter. These guests do not have their own accounts.
- Notification preferences: settings for email digests and push notifications, and — if you enable push — the device push subscription needed to deliver them.
- Communications: messages you send us via the contact form or by email.
1b. Information Collected Automatically
- Log and device data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, screen size, and timestamps of requests.
- Usage data: which features you use and basic actions taken in the app, so we can fix bugs and improve the Service.
- Local storage: we store session and preference data in your browser (for example, your logged-in session and app settings). See Section 5.
We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not run third-party marketing analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and maintain your account and keep you signed in
- Operate the Service and its collaboration features
- Send transactional email (invites, password resets, email verification, contact-form replies)
- Send optional digests and push notifications you have opted into
- Diagnose bugs, monitor security, and improve features
- Respond to your support requests and enforce our Terms
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only in these limited situations:
- With other members of your trip: content you add to a shared trip (meals, duties, expenses, comments, packing, gear, notes, etc.) is visible to everyone invited to that trip.
- With service providers (subprocessors): trusted third parties that help us run the Service, listed in Section 6.
- For legal reasons: when required by law, subpoena, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.
- Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion of your account and personal profile at any time by emailing ContactUs@SeamusMountainVentures.com. Because trips are collaborative, content you contributed to a shared trip (such as meals, expenses, comments, or gear items) may remain visible to other members of that trip after you leave or delete your account, as part of shared group data. Backups and logs may persist for a limited period after deletion in the ordinary course of operation.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
The Service uses cookies and browser local storage that are essential to operate, including:
- Authentication: keeping you signed in across sessions.
- Preferences: your app settings (units, notification prefs, recently-viewed trip) stored on your device.
- Operational logs: server-side request logs used for security and debugging (no third-party marketing analytics).
You can clear these through your browser, but doing so will sign you out and may reset your preferences.
6. Subprocessors
We use the following service providers to operate the Service. Each is bound by its own terms and privacy policy.
- Lovable Cloud — application hosting, authentication, database, file storage, and serverless functions.
- Google (Sign in with Google) — optional OAuth sign-in provider.
- Email delivery provider — used to send transactional email (invites, password resets, verification, and contact-form messages).
- Weather data provider — used to display forecasts for trips.
- Web push service — your browser's push service (e.g., Google, Apple, Mozilla) is used to deliver push notifications if you opt in.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Trip organizers may enter a child's first name and optional dietary info as a guest on a trip; guests do not have accounts and cannot log in. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information directly, email us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), authenticated access, and database-level access controls that restrict trip data to invited members. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you learn of a security issue, please email ContactUs@SeamusMountainVentures.com.
9. International Users
We operate the Service from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information (much of it is editable in the app directly)
- Delete your personal information, subject to limits described in Section 4
- Opt out of digest emails and push notifications at any time via your in-app notification settings or the unsubscribe link in emails
To exercise these rights, email ContactUs@SeamusMountainVentures.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to correct or delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, email us at the address above.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — including if we introduce paid features, new integrations, or additional subprocessors after Beta. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will notify you by email or through an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after the update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
